Venue Choice

Choosing a wedding venue can be a daunting task. Here are some tips to help you choose the perfect wedding venue for your special day:

  1. Choose your wedding location. Decide where you want your wedding to take place. It can be in your hometown, your partner’s hometown, the city where you currently live, a favorite vacation spot, or even a destination that you’ve always wanted to visit. This decision will affect all the other details of your big day, from your budget to your venue options.

  2. Decide if you want your ceremony and reception in the same or different places. While it’s certainly convenient to host your ceremony and reception in the same venue, some couples prefer to host the two events in separate spaces.

  3. Figure out your budget. When it comes to how to choose a wedding venue, one of the most important decisions you’ll make is how much you can spend on a space. Your venue and catering will compromise about half of your wedding budget.

  4. Consider the size of your guest list. You’ll want to select a venue that can accommodate all of your guests comfortably.

  5. Think about the style of wedding you want. Do you want a casual beach wedding or a formal ballroom affair? The style of wedding you want will help you narrow down the many venues out there and find the one that’s right for you.

  6. Research venues online and read reviews from other couples who have gotten married there.

  7. Visit venues in person before making a decision. This will give you a better idea of what the space looks like and whether it will work for your wedding.

  8. Ask about vendor restrictions. Some venues require that you use their preferred vendors for catering, flowers, and other services.

  9. Always ask what the venue does and does not provide for in the total cost. Are chairs and tables included in the total or do you have to rent those separately?

  10. Consider the season and time of day when choosing a venue. If you’re planning an outdoor wedding, make sure the venue has an indoor backup plan in case of bad weather.

  11. Don’t forget about parking and transportation. Make sure there is ample parking for your guests or consider hiring transportation if necessary.
